5 Reasons to work with Where You Are PT

“Rebecca puts the patient at the very center of all her care. She listens and is inquisitive about my experiences, history, and needs are for each issue/injury.” -Stefanie, chronic upper & lower back pain

Meet Dr. Rebecca

I believe that the changes that occur to the body during pregnancy and post-partum are profound and deserve to be addressed. No one should have to suffer through “because that’s what you signed up for.”

Meeting individuals “where they are” means we will work together to create a plan of care that is dynamic and personalized so you can fit it into your life.

After baby, “where you are” can change day to day and even minute to minute. I honor that to help you make the most of your time with me to get you better.

 What are you struggling with?

  • Back pain alone affects 50 to 80 percent of women during pregnancy. Other areas potentially affected include the pelvis, hips, knees, ankles, and wrists. The pain can make the easiest task, like getting out of bed, difficult or keep you from doing the activities you love, like getting to the gym. I can help you manage your pain so that pregnancy doesn’t have to feel like a disability.

  • Having control and having confidence in your choices are two important elements in having a positive birth experience, for both vaginal and cesarian births. It is not enough to have planned your perfect birth. Understanding your options, allows you to be in control when things do not go according to plan. This includes understanding the options for labor induction, medicated and unmedicated pain management options, laboring positions, birthing positions, pushing techniques, the risks and benefits of different medical interventions, and more.

  • Having a child is a transformative process, both physically and emotionally. The body changes alone can feel overwhelming, and more so if you had any additional complications. Add onto that society telling you that everything should be back to “normal” at 6 weeks. You deserve care that addresses your concerns and helps you to feel your best.

  • Did you know that 30% of birthing women have a c-section in our country, and over 80% of first time mothers having some level of vaginal tear during labor? Leaving the hospital you likely were given little guidance for healing and recovery. Later, scar tissue from a cesarian can lead to low back pain, pain with sex, or urgency and frequency of urination. Perineal tears can lead to urinary or fecal incontinence, pain with sex, or other pelvic pain.
It doesn’t matter if you gave birth 2 days or 20 years ago, I can help you care for the tissue to avoid or manage those potential side-effects.

  • Deciding to have a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarian) is not an easy choice. Many OBs give pushback to individuals for reasons including age, weight, diabetes status, to name a few. Having accurate information about your body and your options can help you make the right decision and prepare your body for your next birth.

  • Nearly 75% of post-partum individuals have some sort of complications including diastasis recti, low back or hip pain, incontinence (pee or poop), scar tissue (c-section or vaginal tears), pain with sex, difficulty returning to their sport, or just not feeling 100%.
Your mother or friends may have told you that these things are “normal” after having a baby. They are indeed common but in no way normal, and you do not have to “deal with it.”

  • Leaking urine or having difficulty pooping can be frustrating and embarrassing. The idea of talking to your doctor may even make you uncomfortable or upset because they dismissed your complaints. Pelvic floor therapy can address frequent UTIs, painful urination, constipation, painful or difficult bowel movements, hemorrhoids, incontinence, and urinary frequency/urgency.

  • 90% of individuals with back pain have an element of pelvic floor involvement. When you only address part of the cause, complete resolution is unlikely. As a pelvic floor specialist, I can treat the whole body, helping you discover pain free days.
